Do I Need a Defence Lawyer?
There are few events in life that can be as difficult and disruptive as facing criminal charges. Squaring off against the police and Crown Attorney without the assistance of a criminal defence lawyer can, and often does, result in the accused accumulating a criminal record for no good reason and suffering consequences that are far worse than the case deserves.
Those consequences can be permanent, especially when it comes to employment, immigration and crossing the border. At the very least, you should let a lawyer review your case to tell you what your options are so that you can make an informed decision about what to do next.
Areas of Practice
LBE provides superior defence for all criminal charges including:
✓ Assault
Some of Lawrence’s Successful Cases
Sexual Assault
Not Guilty
A successful business executive’s niece had accused him of repeated sexual assaults over a 2-year period. The Complainant and another witness testified against the accused. After considering my aggressive cross-examination, the jury took less than 2 hours to return a verdict of ‘not guilty’ on all counts.

Break & Enter
Not Guilty
A police officer accused my client of having broken into her home. The officer testified that she saw my client from a distance of 6 feet in her home and was absolutely certain that he was the burglar. I discredited the officer’s identification testimony to the point that it took the jury only 2 hours to find my client ‘not guilty’ of this very serious crime.

Fraud
Charges Withdrawn
My Client was charged with more than 100 counts of fraud. The Crown asked that the charges be withdrawn because of the very effective challenges to the evidence of the investigating officers and the complainants. Those cross-examinations showed that there was no credible evidence of any wrongdoing.

Impaired Care & Control
Not Guilty
My client was found unconscious and drunk behind the wheel of his car. He was charged with ‘impaired care and control’ and ‘over 80 care and control’. The breath readings were more than twice the legal limit. I brought forward credible evidence that the client had no intention to drive the car. The Judge found him not guilty.

Home Invasion / Assault
Charges Withdrawn
My client was charged with having participated in a home invasion robbery during which he was accused of assaulting the homeowner. After a thorough investigation by my office, I brought forward evidence showing that the homeowner had lied and that the incident had never taken place. The Crown withdrew the charge before the trial date was set.

Sexual Assault
Case Dismissed
Young person with his entire life ahead of him was charged with sexually assaulting another young person. After the evidence and arguments were in, the Judge accepted my position that my client was telling the truth and dismissed the charge. The young man avoided a serious criminal record and a potentially very long jail sentence.
